Our Mission

Dr. John Van Epp and Dr. Morgan Cutlip are a father-daughter team with two perspectives but one mission: to help churches and communities build and maintain healthy and God-honoring relationships, particularly in marriage and dating. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” And the second is its equal, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Therefore, high quality and loving relationships are central to the spiritual life of a church, and none more crucial and under attack than the dating and marriage relationships of Christians. Relationship Goals provides a framework for understanding all relationships, including a relationship with God, and unites your congregation with a common language for evaluating and strengthening the health of their relationships, with a specific track for couples in marriage and a second track for singles about dating.

What we believe

We believe that developing healthy and God-honoring relationships both before and after marriage is one of the most important areas of spiritual growth, and that the church must make a priority of providing very practical Biblical teaching and resources to singles and couples within their congregations.

We believe that God is love, and that He calls and empowers us to express His love in our attitudes and actions within the framework of our relationships.

We believe that that there is a balance between a reliance on God and a responsible effort in taking care of your relationships, including your relationship with God. Therefore, God desires that you grow to understand relationships and to develop the skills that build and sustain your relationships, so that you are equipped to fulfill His will.

I am so grateful for this series. It confirmed my convictions in many areas and gave me new tools for healthy relationships. I am so grateful for my church and the new friends I have met since I just moved here. Thank you!

We are so blessed having Pastors who truly love and care for their flock. Giving our God all the honor and glory!

-Married Track Participant

My partner and I were not yet married, but we are in a married life group. We just got married last weekend! We LOVED going through the married version before we were married. It allowed us to start our marriage off on the right foot. We even had a little huddle after we got married just to go over the day and recap. It has taught me to be more relaxed, and not as quick to anger. I even used the RAM key points in my vows.  I really truly gained a lot of insight and enjoyed the series!

It was great to talk about the real struggles of marriage – and they aren’t just taboo. Please do another series like this again soon!

There is no better place to teach and preach about healthy relationships than in the church.
